A Yogi's 5 Get Fit & Stay Fit secrets
No one is magically fit from birth, we all need to put some time and energy into achieving and maintaining it. For many of us it can seem like a daunting task however I have found that there are natural, simple things you can do that dramatically affect your fitness and health. With healthy lifestyle choices, you can cheat your age and look and feel younger and better than ever. Read on and find out how you can get in better shape physically, mentally, and emotionally without having to spend lots of time and money.
Sleep
You know why it’s referred to as beauty sleep? That’s because it is responsible for restoring our body’s natural balance. While adequate sleep helps improve muscle tone and enhances the efficiency all body systems, lack of sleep or chronic sleep deprivation can be very damaging. One night of sleeplessness can make your eyes look dark and puffy and frequent sleep deprivation can lead to fatigue, memory problems, and muscle loss. Various studies have associated inadequate sleep with reduced health. In these studies, accelerated aging has also been found to be a result of inadequate sleep. In a clinical trial, women who were sleep deprived were found to have signs of premature aging and a decrease in the ability to recover from exposure stress and exercise.
When you lack sleep, the level of stress hormones in the body increases, causing inflammation that results in the increased rate of aging and worsening of health conditions. The bodies ability to stay supple and hydrated is reduced, and the bodies ability to protect and detoxify itself from chemicals and pollutants is also compromised. Thus, beauty sleep is definitely not just an old wives’ tale. Get a good sleeping habit before you decide that certain lifestyle choices like exercise are not working. A regular yoga practice can help promote deeper more restful sleep. Getting enough sleep will surely make a difference.
Diet
What you eat or do not eat has an effect on the rate of your aging. Poor nutrition can definitely be seen in your appearance and can have damaging effects not only on your skin but your overall health as well. If you’re the type of person who frequently eats sugary and processed carbohydrates then you’re a candidate for premature aging. Doctor's say that you can actually look older because of the junk you’re eating. Researchers have found that good nutrition among other healthy things can slow down the aging process.
Healthy diet helps you lose weight and look and feel younger in and out. Perhaps it’s not the brand of products you need to change but your choices of food. Learn what you should and should not eat before you frantically look for products that promise to help you lose fat. Consume more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that combat free-radical damage. Dr. Moore’s Diet and Nutrition book comes FREE with my Dvd!
Water
Everybody knows how important water is to overall health but do you know it can affect your aging process? Like every organ of the body, your skin needs water for hydration otherwise your skin will be dry, tight, flaky, and will be more prone to wrinkling, acne, and many other skin conditions. Lack of water can also aggravate any health condition that you already have. Water is imperative to maintaining our bodies moisture and is responsible for delivering essential nutrients to cells. Moreover, it is highly important for cleansing or removal of various toxins from the body.
One of the most common beauty regimen that supermodels share is drinking lots of water every day. Whenever asked about her beauty secret, supermodel Elle Macpherson who is now 50 years old says it’s drinking lots of water. She drinks at least three liters of water everyday to keep her beautiful and healthy in and out.
Exercise
As you grow older, you begin notice a lot of changes in your body that are due to aging. Your heart rate, blood pressure, weight, and memory among many other things change. Of course, the most visible of all are the changes to the body – the appearance of age spots, loss of muscle tone, and aching body parts. With regular exercise though, these changes can be controlled or delayed. Regular exercise helps in reducing the risks of developing ailments that usually occur as people grow older. It helps maintain healthy blood pressure, keeps your muscles, bones, and joints strong, maintains sexual drive, and of course keeps your skin’s elasticity among many other benefits.
Proper exercise program is essential for overall health and longevity. Before you start working out though, make sure you choose a program that is suitable for your fitness level. There are tons of workout programs available and what ‘s good for others may not be suitable for you. To ensure your safety and maximum results, try the Air Bar Exercises workout Dvd.
Manage Stress
Of course you know that Stress can wreak havoc with many of our body systems but more importantly stress and our reaction to it causes the release of hormones which over the long term actually leads to our body holding onto fat reserves and actually storing more fat! One good way to begin is to pick one or two stressors that you can reduce or remove from your life. Second, it is important to be grateful each day, operating in the present moment -- the NOW. Be mindful in each thing you do. Third, consider starting a daily meditation practice. This can be easy, pick a comfortable seated position, turn off all electronics, except for a timer; set it for 5 minutes. Close your eyes and slowly count your breath as you breath in and out through your nose for a count of 7 seconds to inhale and 8 seconds to exhale. Thoughts will pop into our head, acknowledge them and get back to counting your breath. I consider Eckhart Tolle’s book “The Power Of Now” to be mandatory reading.
Just remember to be consistent everyday and in just a few short weeks you will notice big changes!
